Description

MOB Lifesaver is 3 metres of 3mm neon coated Dyneema spliced into a loop with a triangle in one end.

The other end is attached to the lifting becket in the life jacket with a strap hitch knot.

After inflation the LifeSaver floats out onto the water and is easy for the rescuer to grab with the boathook.

They can then secured the MOB to the boat while they set up their retrieval rig.

The Dyneema is capable of lifting 1.5 tons. Some lifejackets have one lifting strop and require one lifesaver whilst others have two lifting strops and would require two lifesavers.

Approved to use with both the I-Zip & Pro-Zip lifejackets.

MOB Lifesaver – attaches to the lifting loop/becket in a lifejacket. When the lifejacket inflates the Lifesaver is available there on top of the bladder and easy for the rescuer to grab with the boathook. With the Lifesaver in hand, they can then secure the MOB to the boat while they set up their retrieval rig.

A Lifesaver is hand-made from ultra High weight Molecular PolyEthylene, also known as HMPE (the same material from which Dyneema® is made.) The Lifesaver is spliced into a loop and a triangle is formed in one end. It is incredibly strong.  It will lift over 2 tons!

LifeJacket MOB Lifesaver – The one thing that concerns sailors is how to get a man in the water back on board if he can’t help himself.

mob lifesaverAttaching him to the boat while we set up a retrieval rig is key. But on yachts we can’t reach down to get a line onto him and even on motorboats with bathing platforms it is very difficult to grab and keep hold of the casualty.

The answer? MOB Lifesaver. We don’t go down to the man overboard, he comes up to us.

Remember…

…with a Lifesaver the casualty has their means of retrieval back on board stowed within their own lifejacket

More Information

It is always a good idea to keep things neat and tidy inside the life jacket and so, here’s an idea. We can fold a pocket to house the LifeSaver. It must be free to open out and release the LifeSaver the minute the life jacket deploys. In this video we have taken a ‘T’ shaped section of lifejacket bladder material and folded a pocket to house the LifeSaver. By cutting a hole in the end of the pocket one can hang this off the oral inflation tube if that is the side on which we find our lifting strop.
