Block & Tackle InstructionsThis is how the pulley should be hanging from the davit, prior to lifting operation. ORANGE pulley at the top and the orange rope simply wrapped around the hi-vis rope. The BLUE pulley should be at the bottom, with the prusik wrapped around the rope and connected to the block/pulley using a PIN (it should be set up from the bag). You then pinch the prusik together (as below) and lower the end of the block and tackle assembly. Then once the BLUE end of the block and tackle is low enough to the lifting strap, connect the Karabiner by twisting and pulling downward the locking mechanism. There is a locking mechanism due to LOLER requiring a two stage ‘clamp’ for lifting/man riding purposes. It can be carried out using one hand, but this takes some getting used to. You should then end up with something like this:
